Finance homework sucked!

It literally took me 12 hours to do our Finance homework # 1. I believe we were originally told that it would take around 4-6 hours, but now, it seems that was grossly underestimated. It wasn't even that it took me a long time to finish, but when I finally "finished" the assignment, I still felt somewhat lost and not too confident in my answers. I felt that we were a little ill-prepared for the homework. I'll just leave it at that.

Dinner. I had a really late lunch, so I wasn't all that hungry. The menu was extra descriptive for tonight's meal: Chicken-broccoli & brown rice bowls, Tofu-eggplant-shitake mushroom & brown rice , three pea salad w/ Julienne Bell Pepper in miso-sesame vinaigrette, fruit & berry salad, sesame bread sticks. The chicken-broccoli was okay. It was a little on the salty side, but we had rice so it wasn't bad. The rice was a little too mushy tho. A little too much water was used to cook the rice. The pea salad was different and good. Something new is always good for me =) I did not know those things were sesame bread sticks. I thot it was some cracker topping thing, so I just skipped it. I don't know if any of you had them.....comment!

Ben Stiller aka Greg Bigley...

Yup, this past Saturday was our session's turn to meet with Ben....I mean Greg Bigley. I know I'm not the only one who thinks he looks like Ben Stiller. Seriously, not only does he look like him, but some of his mannerisms are just like him! His facial expressions and the way he moves his hands around are uncanny. Greg could have a side business as a look-a-like celebrity!

I was a little disappointed to see our breakfast. Yes, oatmeal is a hot meal, which I usually like, but this is the second time we've had it. They totally skipped over the scrambled eggs and potatoes meal we had like 3 months ago. I want that back! Also, I realized they skipped out on the "carb" station this week as well. No muffins, danishes, or any pastries like they usually have. Man, we're getting jipped! On the positive end, they've added back the breakfast menu on the calendar. See...Breakfast: Oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, granola, toast, rice cakes

Lunch was better. The calendar menu - Lunch: Phillysteak sandwiches; vegetarian entrée; salad; potato chips; fruit platter. The Phillycheese steak sandwiches were good, but one of our classmates had 3 of them! He was pretty hungry. I also liked the potato salad thingy as it had a bunch of eggs =) Potato chips...not quite, they were Frito's, and fruit platter? I don't remember that as I only got watermelon, which were pretty good and sweet. Overall, it was a satisfying meal....prolly more for some others.

Who am I?

I hope my presentation provided a little insight into my life and work for some of you....not that you cared =P. For the rest of you that missed it, OMG, it was the best presentation eva! Really, it was =)

I can barely remember what we had for dinner. It's nice that I have pictures and the help of the menu from our calendar. The menu says: Beef, lamb & veggie shish-kebabs; mediteranean style salad; side dish; rolls & butter. Ah, now I remember. Shish-kabobs! I had the beef and lamb kabobs, and they were pretty good. I preferred the beef, but the lamb was okay. The only complaint I'd have is that the food wasn't really hot. The salad, veggies, roll, and rice were decent, but I remembered that I took a picture of the cake in the background because it was something new. I can't remember what kinda cake it was, but it looks like a chocolaty vanilla/white cake...maybe. I do remember it being good as anything new for desserts is a plus!

Survery Says...

...that I'm a collectivist with low uncertainty avoidance and medium power distance, but neither a universalist or particularist. I may have used those terms totally incorrectly. Oh yeah, and I have a specific relationship with my boss....from the result of the survey, that is =P

Hey, look! We got the menu back! Dinner: Ginger glazed salmon, cauliflower/fennel/yukon gold gratin, fire roasted spring vegetables, baby green salad, breads. Only thing that I would have added was the black rice. It was yummy. Black rice is not common at restaurants, and it's actually pretty good for you. The meal was really good. I had seconds =) It's nice to have some fish after getting the usual chicken dishes, but I understand that chicken and pork are cheaper. The salmon tasted like it was farmed. It was good, but I'm just saying it tasted like farmed salmon. Just a coincidence because we had cooked some farmed salmon at home recently and I noticed a difference in taste. It tasted softer...like not as "steaky" like the wild salmon I had before. Maybe because they don't have to swim as much in the farms? However, I could be totally wrong and the salmon could have been wild....and I could have gotten a bad farmed salmon a couple of weeks ago for myself. I'll have to go buy some more farmed salmon to test my theory out. Talking about salmon, if you like salmon, it's almost that time of the year for that Copper River (read overpriced) salmon. I had it once.....yeah, just once....didn't think it was worth the megabucks. I am known to be very very cheap though.

The Grilled Veggies!

Yup, these are the grilled veggies that we have. A classmate got the recipe for these, so I told him that I'd post it the next time we have the veggies...so I could take a picture of it. Without further ado, here's the recipe for this:

Any type of Root Vegetables, Zucchini, Asparagus, etc.
Drizzle with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Season with El Gacho mix,
which is Salt, Pepper, Garlic and finely crushed Rosemary.
Toss well. Place single layer on sided cookie sheet and roast
in 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes(until golden brown)
or barbecue on grill until tender.

That's right....no comments. I don't know how many people read this blog, but I found out there were people that have read this blog that I didn't even know. It was kinda scary at first, but then I realized that nobody ever leaves any comments. How am I supposed to know what you think about my crap writing? If you don't agree with me or think I suck, let me know. If you think I spend way too much time talking and thinking about food, you're prolly right....let me know. If you liked certain meals but not others, post it! You don't know who's reading this. You might control your own future for meals for the TMMBA program.

Breakfast. No menu items again. Dood!! Someone is slackin! Same ol' stuff with the yogurt, bread, fruit, hardboiled eggs, etc. They had donuts again and as much as I like donuts, I couldn't eat them that day. I had already had donuts from work 2 times that week, so I guess I was kinda tired of them. I think we had bagels too. The eggs and fruit are always good for me, and of course, the peanut butter and bread is always there for backup.

Lunch. Spinach salad with eggs and bacon...excellent! Grilled veggies....very nice! And we had chicken breast with this fruity-tangy sauce. I liked the sauce and the chicken was moist. Everything was pretty good. Recently, all the meals have been good. I really don't have much else to say. We'll see what we have next Saturday. 2 more Saturdays left for the quarter!

Argentina & Chile!!!

I'm not going to say anything else about Argentina and Chile. Instead, I'll apologize for zipping through these posts so fast. I'm like 2 wks behind, and I didn't want it to stack up even more. Originally, I had planned to post these after every class. I now see that it was quite unrealistic.

Dinner. Survey says: nothing? Oh, I've been spoiled by the menu details that I feel lost when I don't see the menu items listed anymore. We had spinach salad with eggs and bacon bits (it's all those things on top of my salad), grill veggie tray (which we haven't seen in awhile), new potatoes, and a chicken with tomatoe, avocado, and cheesy/creamy sauce on top. It was all very good. You can't go wrong with avocados! Eggs with the salad and bacon bits...eeeexcellent!

Argentina & Chile

It's all about the Argentina and Chile!!! They both have a very diverse businesses in industrial and agricultral sectors. Argentina has just come out of their historical economy bust in 2001 and now facing some problems with inflation. Chile's exports account for 40% of their GDP with copper being 1/3 of their gov. revenue. They also have a great wine industry, which can't be a bad place to visit.

Dinner. Survey says: Rotini pasta in lemon caper cream sauce, Penne pasta in marinara sauce w/ grilled vegetables, Italian meatballs & sausage, Cucumber-tomato-bell pepper salad, garlic bread. Wow, that's a mouthful! I can't really add much more to that detailed menu. I'm not a big cream or capers fan, but it was still good. I preferred the penne with marinara. The meatballs & sausage were the only "meats". They were decent, but the meatballs were kinda....IKEA like. I never had the Swedish meatballs that IKEA sells, but I'd imagine this is what they taste like. It was bad. They were just very......generic.
